Actor. Dancer. Pianist

Hi! My name is Emily Ling Mei (She/Her) and I'm an Asian American actor, dancer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Chicago! Originally from Western Massachusetts, I grew up immersed in the arts, with a piano teacher as a mother and a family with a deep love for theatre and music. With opportunities to sing in choirs, perform in musicals, study dance, and expand my creative side through a program called DestiNation ImagiNation, my passion for performing grew. 

In 2023, I graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre with a Concentration in Dance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) at Roosevelt University. I stayed in Chicago and now, in addition to performing, I also work as a music director/accompanist and choreographer, as well as teach at various music schools in and around Chicago including the Old Town School of Folk Music.

MY VISION

As an artist today, my goal is to uphold and promote representation and equity within the arts. I firmly believe that art should not just reflect the world we live in, but offer a window that invites its audience to envision a better world. Communication, community, and compassion are extremely important to creating art that isn't just entertaining, but impactful. This is my commitment to the theatre community.
