About Emily Ling Mei
My Background
I began playing piano when I was four. Growing up with a piano teacher as a mother, I was constantly inspired and encouraged to continue practicing and expanding my techniques. Although I grew up in a classical background, I quickly learned to love playing through all types of music, especially musical theatre. Now years later, I've had the opportunity to music direct multiple productions, work with a wide variety of singers, accompany for multiple churches, and teach private piano!
Past Achievements
Some of my musical endeavors include:
- Music Directing for various cabarets with Trans Voices Cabaret at the Understudy in Chicago (ongoing)
- Music Directing the CCPA Senior MTD Cabaret 2024
- Music Directing Little By Little (March 2023)
- Accompanying and Co-Music Directing Color Me 2022
- Leading and accompanying a five-piece string ensemble in addition to playing Katharine Wright for an original musical Brothers Wright with Scantic River Productions
- Subbing as a pianist for the Wilbraham United Methodist Church
